1. Hi Rebecca,
Really interested to read of your interest in Community Interest Concerns (CiCs) I work for Herefordshire Council’s Healthy Lifestyle Team and I’m always looking for links with community groups. I have been working for some time with Sonya Cary, who runs the CiC at Pontrilas Post Office. She has an interesting operation going there and was the winner of the community champions award last year. I have attached a link to their site for your information. http://careherefordshire.com/news/ Please contact me if you feel that either her scheme or our service is something you would like to know more about. Kind Regards, Peter Day

  2. Dear Rebecca

I was delighted to see that we have alternative to the Conservative candidate in the upcoming election! Our community – Ocle Pychard – has been fighting planning application for a year: a farmer wants to erect 91 acres of polytunnels to grow table top strawberries.
The planning committee granted permission (you may have read about the decision in the Hereford Times) on the casting vote of the chair, and the CPRE has mounted a legal challenge.
If I was to vote for you, would you support our fight should you be elected and the application is considered again some time in the future?
    Many thanks
    Kathie Barrs

    1. Thanks so much for getting in touch.

I absolutely would support your fight if elected.

I would also support any measures brought to the Council that support farmers to make decisions that increase soil health, build a strong local economy and keep our local produce here in Herefordshire. I don’t think it’s not enough as a councillor just to oppose, proposing different solutions that support our farmers is also important.

I’d like to be part of your campaign whether elected or not, but it’s clear that a stronger presence on the council which considers the longer term environmental impacts of planning would have avoided this planning decision. I very much hope to be part of that bigger stronger team!
