Diana Toynbee is standing as the Green Party Parliamentary Candidate for the Hereford and South Herefordshire constituency in the 2019 general election. She writes: –
“Once again, I am delighted to be giving Hereford and South Herefordshire a strong Green choice at this general election. I was elected earlier this year to represent Greyfriars ward on both Herefordshire County Council and Hereford City Council, and I know that our values and policies resonate with many voters here.
I will put quality of life at the top of the political agenda: clean energy not fracking, investment in peace and security not nuclear weapons, and decent public transport instead of more tarmac and air pollution. I want to kick private profit out of the NHS and our schools, and bring in a fair voting system where every vote counts
This election is about not just the next 5 years, but the next 50. We urgently need to work together to deal with the climate emergency and secure our future. Brexit will mean thousands of laws and trade agreements being re-written. I will fight to protect our country from being put up for sale to global corporations. I will scrutinise and challenge all government plans, speak up for Herefordshire, and defend the services, human rights and natural environment that are our true wealth.
And whatever the outcome, every single Green vote on 12 December will send a message to the next government that we want a fairer, safer, cleaner future.”
